These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Kuramo mobile application (the "Service") provided by Ren Shinkai (the "Company," "we," "us," or "our"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
- By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
- We may modify these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the modified Terms.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service.
2. Definitions
- Service: The Kuramo mobile application and all related services provided by the Company
- User/You: Any individual who uses the Service
- Account: Your personalized access to the Service
- User Content: All data, information, and content you submit, upload, or store through the Service, including shopping lists, recipes, categories, templates, and favorites
- Free Plan: The basic tier of the Service available at no cost
- Premium Plan: The paid subscription tier offering enhanced features
- Subscription: A recurring payment arrangement for the Premium Plan
3. Service Description
Kuramo is an AI-powered shopping list management application that provides:
- Shopping list creation, editing, and management
- AI-powered automatic item categorization
- Recipe analysis via URL parsing and image recognition
- Template and favorites functionality
- Family sharing features (Premium Plan only)
We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features and functionality at any time without prior notice.
4. Account Registration
- The Service automatically creates an anonymous account upon first use via Firebase Authentication.
- You may later link your account with Google or Apple Sign-In to enable additional features.

You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate and current information
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.
5. Subscription Plans and Pricing
5.1 Plan Tiers
Free Plan:
- 1 shopping list
- AI features: 1 use per day
- Ads displayed
Premium Plan:
- Unlimited shopping lists
- Unlimited AI features
- No ads
- Family sharing (up to 5 members)
5.2 Pricing
- Monthly: ¥400/month (approximately $3-4 USD)
- Annual: ¥4,000/year (approximately $30-40 USD)
- All Premium Plans include a 14-day free trial.
5.3 Payment and Billing
Payments are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). You will be charged through your App Store account upon purchase confirmation. Pricing may vary by region based on App Store pricing tiers and local currencies.
5.4 Auto-Renewal
Premium subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage auto-renewal in your App Store account settings.
5.5 Free Trial
- First-time Premium Plan subscribers receive a 14-day free trial.
- You may cancel anytime during the trial period. If not cancelled 24 hours before trial expiration, you will be automatically charged for a paid subscription.
- Users who previously subscribed to the Premium Plan may not be eligible for the free trial.
5.6 Cancellation
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Kuramo → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Kuramo → Cancel Subscription
Upon cancellation, you retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.
5.7 Refund Policy
Refunds are subject to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store refund policies. We cannot directly process refunds for App Store purchases. Please contact Apple or Google support for refund requests.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Use the Service for illegal purposes or in connection with illegal activities
- Infringe upon intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of the Company or third parties
- Overload or disrupt the Service's networks or systems
- Interfere with the operation of the Service
- Attempt unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Engage in any activity we deem inappropriate or harmful to the Service
7. User Content
- You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to submit User Content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.
- You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works from, display, and perform your User Content solely for the purposes of providing, improving, and promoting the Service.
- We are not obligated to monitor User Content.
- We may remove or hide User Content that violates these Terms without prior notice.
8. Intellectual Property Rights
- All intellectual property rights in the Service belong to the Company or our licensors.
- These Terms do not grant you any license to our intellectual property except as necessary to use the Service.
- "Kuramo" and associated logos are trademarks or registered trademarks of the Company or our licensors.
9. AI Features
- The Service uses AI technology provided by OpenAI for recipe analysis and automatic categorization features.
- AI-generated results (categorization, recipe ingredient extraction, etc.) are not guaranteed to be accurate. You should use AI features as reference information and make final decisions at your own discretion.
- Free Plan users are limited to 1 AI feature use per day. Premium Plan users have unlimited AI feature usage.
- User data processed by AI features is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
10. Advertising
- The Service displays ads to Free Plan users via Google AdMob.
- Premium Plan users do not see ads.
- We are not liable for any damages resulting from clicking or tapping on ads.
11. Family Sharing
- Premium Plan users can share shopping lists with up to 5 family members.
- All sharing participants must have Kuramo accounts.
- Shared users have full read, edit, and delete permissions for shared lists.
- You are responsible for obtaining consent from sharing participants and using the feature appropriately.
12. System Limitations

We may impose technical limitations to ensure stable operation and maintain service quality, including but not limited to:
- Maximum items per list: 200 items
- Other limitations as necessary to maintain service quality
- These limitations may be changed without prior notice as part of performance improvements and security measures.
13. Service Level
- We may perform scheduled maintenance for updates, repairs, or improvements to the Service with or without prior notice.
- We may perform emergency maintenance without prior notice in cases of urgent security or stability issues.
- Any service level objectives (SLOs) we may provide as reference are aspirational goals only and are not legally binding.
- No refunds, service credits, or other compensation will be provided for service interruptions, outages, or performance degradation.
14. Service Modifications and Interruptions
- We may modify, add to, or remove Service features without prior notice.

We may interrupt or suspend the Service without prior notice in cases of:
- Emergency system maintenance or repairs
- System failures due to technical issues
- Force majeure events (natural disasters, power outages, etc.)
- Third-party service failures, changes, or terminations (Firebase, OpenAI, Apple, Google, etc.)
- Cyber attacks, unauthorized access, or other security incidents
- Changes in laws, regulatory requirements, or government orders
- We are not liable for damages resulting from actions taken under this section.
15. Service Termination
- Right to Terminate: We may terminate all or part of the Service at any time, at our sole discretion.
- Notice Period: We will make reasonable efforts to notify users at least 30 days before the Service termination date. However, this notice period may be shortened or waived in cases of legal requirements, security emergencies, or unexpected termination of third-party services.
- Data Export: Following termination notice, we will make reasonable efforts to provide users with an opportunity to export their data, where technically feasible. However, we are under no obligation to provide data export functionality.
- Data Deletion: After Service termination, we may delete all data, including User Content. We have no obligation to retain data after Service termination.
- No Refunds: No refunds will be provided due to Service termination, except where required by law.
16. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if you:
- Violate any provision of these Terms
- Provide false registration information
- Have not used the Service for 6 months
- Fail to respond to our inquiries for 30 days
- Otherwise engage in conduct we deem inappropriate
- We are not liable for damages resulting from actions taken under this section.
- Upon account deletion, all User Content is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
17. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- We do not guarantee that information provided through the Service (including AI-generated results) is accurate, useful, complete, or current.
- We are not responsible for disputes, transactions, or communications between you and other users or third parties arising from the Service.
- TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
- IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE (12) MONTHS, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. FOR FREE PLAN USERS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO DOLLARS ($0).
- The Service relies on third-party services (Firebase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, Google AdMob). We are not liable for service disruptions caused by these third-party providers.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company, its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or relating to:
- Your access to or use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
- Your User Content
- Any activity that occurs under your account
19. Assignment
- You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
- We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or operation of law, without your consent.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
21. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
22. Modifications to Terms
- We may modify these Terms at any time by posting the revised Terms in the Service and providing notice of changes at least 30 days before they take effect.
- Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
- If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
- These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
- Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court in Japan as the court of first instance.
- Before initiating any legal proceedings, you agree to first contact us in writing and attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiations for a period of at least sixty (60) days.
